How to Measure Your Lawn
If you're lucky enough to have a square or rectangular lawn, measuring its area is simplicity itself.
Measure the width and the length, and multiply the two together. This gives you your area.
Whether you measure in feet, yards or metres, you can use our turf calculator to do the calculation for you.Of course, not all lawns are that easy to measure. As people take more of an interest in the design of their gardens, irregular shapes are increasingly popular. If the shape is relatively simple and made up of separate squares or rectangles, you can measure it by breaking it up as shown in the diagram below.
An example...
If your lawn is more complicated than that, we suggest the you use a piece of graph paper to help you measure the area. Measure the width and the length of your garden at various points, and draw an approximation of the shape of your lawn to scale. By counting the number of squares your lawn fills, and "guess-timating" the rest from partially filled squares, you can get a reasonable result. If in doubt, it is always best to round your estimate up rather than down.
Whatever the shape and size of your lawn, we strongly recommend that you purchase 5% more turf than you need to cover waste and trim. Our turf calculator automatically includes this margin.
When comparing prices, note that that Rolawn's Medallion turf is sold in rolls of one square metre. Each square metre roll covers 20% more ground than a square yard roll.

Turf must be rolled out immediately in spring/summer and within 24 hours of delivery in the autumn/winter.

I have NEVER done any garden work. EVER !!! After much research, watching your videos & on seeing previous comments, I decided to order from Rolawn, direct. I purchased the turf (19 rolls) online Thursday 5th July at 8 A.M, for a morning delivery (7a.m til 1 pm) the following day. The goods duly arrived Fri 6th July at 12-30 p.m (on time) and in excellent condition (even though the weather was horrendous). The delivery driver was very friendly and most helpful too. He placed the pallet of turf exactly where I asked him too & gave me time to check the goods before he drove off. The adverse weather fortunately eased, late that same afternoon & the turf was laid that same evening. Instant transformation ! & compliments a plenty from neighbours & passers by. It's now been down a week & had its first light trim yesterday. It looks absolutely stunning. Can't fault the company, product or customer service. Would highly recommend Rolawn (far better quality than the garden center rubbish I've seen on my travels. Top marks guys Thank you.
