Rolawn donate topsoil to Britain in Bloom Neighbourhood Awards Scheme
06/10/2006
Rolawn, Europe's largest turf grower and leading topsoil supplier have donated their Blended Loam™ topsoil for use in the final phase of Ravenscliffe Community Centre's landscaping project in Bradford.
Ravenscliffe was chosen to launch the first Britain in Bloom Neighbourhood Awards, which is part of the Britain in Bloom campaign run by the RHS.
Over the last few months, all sections of the community have rallied together to transform what was once a derelict site into a contemporary urban oasis. Specialist staff from RHS Harlow Carr assisted community volunteers and local school children with the earlier planting. Rolawn's safe, quality Blended Loam™ topsoil was selected to fill flower beds as part of the final phase of the project.
Matthew Wilson, Curator & Head of Site at RHS Garden Harlow Carr commented "we were delighted to receive Rolawn's Blended Loam™ that was used to improve the soil in a very poor area of the site. The improved beds have now been planted with over 500 donated lavender plants which, with the good start provided by the Blended Loam™, should look wonderful next summer. ITV 1 filmed the work as part of their 'Big Clean Up' campaign, and BBC Gardeners World have been following the progress of the main garden".
