Bark is quite an incredible substance, so apart from the amazing uses for bark around the garden, in children’s playgrounds and for landscape garden designers, we thought we’d take a look at how amazing bark really is. Here are some great bark facts:
Bark in the Park
Not the kind of bark we’ve been discussing so far, however, ‘Bark in the Park’ is a phrase used worldwide by organisations campaigning to prevent animal cruelty by hosting sponsored dog walks that they call ‘Bark in the Park’. The money raised goes towards the relevant organisations and charities that can do the work of animal protection.
French Maritime Pine Bark
And now back to real bark. The bark from pine trees has been used by gardeners for ornamental or decorative purposes for many years, however, not so long ago it was discovered that the bark of the French Maritime Pine tree contains an antioxidant that can reduce some side-effects of anti-hypertension drugs in patients taking such medications.
